We woke up this morning fully recovered, well, more or less, from our whale watching expedition. Our flight wasn’t until much later in the day so there was still time to do some sightseeing in the morning. After crossing the border of Bolivia and entering Peru I passed the usual passport formalities without any hassle. I board a camioneta and head out towards the city of Puno. The area is dry and arid and there are low lying mountains spreading out towards the horizon. The air is cool and crisp and rather thin due to the extreme altitude almost reaching 4000 metres. I’m surprised that it has not affected... 
Catching the local bus from Palolem to Margao for our train journey to Kochi in Kerala in hindsight probably wasn’t a good idea. With a huge push and shove effort (translation: Donna elbowing people in the head and stomach) we got the last 2 seats on the bus…unfortunately for Neil his seat was next to a 23 year old Indian guy who not only struck up a conversation which lasted the entire 3 hour... 
The thing about maps is that the trails look so short on paper. I arrived in El Chalten on a blue sky day at about 6:30 in the morning after a 30 hour bus ride. After finding a hostel, I glanced at a map, picked a likely destination and started walking. Tee shirt and jeans were comfortable and the day looked great. I didn´t know much about the place… my new travel philosophy is founded on last years... 
So to continue with our Iguazu falls experience….we checked into the Hotel Inn in Puerto Iguazu, Argentina, lorded in backpacker circles as being the best hostel in all the land, we were excited to discover that it was indeed rather posh.
